Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery at Palmdale Regional Medical CenterReshape. Repair. Restore.

If you're not satisfied with the appearance of a part of your body, or are living with scarring or other disfigurement as the result of an accident or injury, plastic surgery may be what you need to help enhance your physical appearance and, in turn, improve your level of confidence and self-esteem.

At Palmdale Regional Medical Center, we work with your plastic surgeon to identify and perform the procedure or treatment option that’s right for you. By combining advanced technology and minimally invasive surgical techniques, plastic surgeons on the hospital's medical staff may be able to enhance your physical appearance and help improve your confidence and self-esteem. Some procedures can also improve mobility and function. Their approach can offer reduced recovery times and hospital stays, so you can quickly return to your normal routine.

Generally, the hospital’s specially trained plastic surgeons treat adults only, and depending on the procedure, your surgery may be either inpatient or outpatient. Plastic surgery procedures fall under two categories: cosmetic and reconstructive.

Cosmetic Surgery

This procedure can reshape or enhance various parts of the body to change physical attributes or suppress signs of aging. As an elective procedure, the decision to have cosmetic surgery is a personal one. Because this procedure is optional, most insurance companies do not cover it. However, we recommend contacting your insurance company to verify coverage.

With cosmetic surgery, it’s best to talk openly with your surgeon about your goals and expectations. You options may vary depending on the part of the body you wish to focus on.

Reconstructive Surgery

Traumatic injuries, birth defects, infections and other abnormalities sometimes cause physical defects or limited mobility. Reconstructive surgery is a way to repair lost function and occasionally restore some physical attributes. This procedure gives you the chance to achieve freedom of motion or allow you live a normal life.

Reconstructive surgery can also conceal certain scars, such as those left from burns or the removal of a tumor. Depending on the procedure, physical therapy or other forms of rehabilitation may be beneficial. If surgery causes general weakness, rehab can help you build strength.

In most cases, insurance companies cover reconstructive surgery. Talk to your provider for more information.
